The Smart Fortwo minicar came to the US in 2008, and I think most Americans — myself included — didn’t quite know what to make of it. For 2011, Smart has given the Fortwo a very minor makeover. The cosmetic changes to the front fascia and instrument panel are almost impossible to spot, but the functional changes are much more noticeable: Knee airbags for all models, side-curtain airbags for coupes, and options like integrated navigation and (finally!) cruise control.
Skeptical as I was about the last Smart I drove, I was surprised at just how much I enjoyed this one. Not that it was love at first site; my first day of driving felt like a mobile prison sentence. But with each passing day I got used to the Smart’s foibles and found myself looking for excuses to drive it. By the end of my test week, I was reluctant to give it up.
What did I like about the Smart? For one thing, the Cabriolet version I drove is the least-expensive convertible sold in the US. For $18,400 — same as a decently-equipped Honda Civic — you get an open-top car with air conditioning and an automatic transmission. The Smart’s convertible roof slides back like a giant sunroof (link goes to photo) and then folds into a bundle at the rear of the car (where it blocks half the view in the rear-view mirror). Getting the full convertible effect requires manually removing the side rails, but it’s an easy job and they store neatly inside the trunk lid. One advantage to leaving the roof rails in place is that you can open and close the top at any speed — something no other convertible I know of can do. And because the Fortwo Cabriolet is so small and so stiff, it doesn’t suffer from the chassis flex that plagues most convertibles.

When it comes to delivering knockout protection, a Smart Fortwo Grill Guard answers the bell. CARiD leads you into our selection of top-quality Smart Grille Guards, all comprised of the highest quality Stainless Steel in existence with name-brand quality to back it up. Smart Fortwo Grille Guards are a crucial component in maintaining your front-end’s health. Too often, the hazards of the road end up wreaking havoc to the face of your ride. Whether it’s rocks, sticks, or other kinds of debris, it doesn’t take much to do costly damage. A Smart Fortwo Grill Guard reinforces the area, making sure any harm is kept to a minimum. Plus, with finishes such as Chrome, Black Powder-Coat, and Polished Steel, the look speaks for itself!

2012 Nissan Versa Review. No matter what some pundits might say, the fact remains that in North America, we simply don’t live in a small car culture. Given a choice between buying a pint-size people mover and something that’s bigger and better equipped at the same price, in most cases consumers will opt for the latter.
That said, even at the entry level, a car needn’t be a penalty box on wheels. That’s something Nissan is hoping it has with its revamped 2012 Versa sedan. Designed to compete with the likes of the Ford Fiesta sedan and recently re-worked Toyota Yaris, it promises to offer a good blend of fuel economy, practicality and interior room at the lowest possible entry price. Question is, does it?
BABY ALTIMA?
Certainly in the looks department, the new Versa is a radical departure from the old, which was rather sensible and boxy looking, leaving some to question whether it was actually conceived for 1997 instead of 2007.
The new one is much more fluid, following Nissan’s current design language, sporting curvaceous fenders and an almost cokebottle profile from some angles. Squint and you might mistake it for a baby Altima sedan. That said, in profile it perhaps looks a tad awkward thanks to a noticeable rear overhang. Clearly necessary to provide any meaningful amount of trunk space, this aspect is by no means unique to the Versa – the Fiesta suffers from it too.

One of the most notable things about Nissan is that most of the models on its roster are well-known for being customizing canvases that drivers love to play around with. These kinds of car owners love to get involved to showcase their own fashion-sense and truly put their stamp on everything. The one place they never neglect is the grille, as it is the calling card of every automobile on the road. CARiD.com gives these drivers whatever they need with our bottomless inventory of Nissan Grills everyone is on the hunt for. From straight-up luxury to more racing-inspired intentions, we feature all front-end styles for more Nissan models than anywhere else in the world! Nissan Grills have always been considered the ultimate statement. That’s not a shocker.

The 2012 Ford Flex ranks 3 out of 22 Affordable Midsize SUVs. This ranking is based on our analysis of 55 published reviews and test drives of the Ford Flex, and our analysis of reliability and safety data.
The Ford Flex is a great alternative for those who need minivan utility but don’t want minivan styling. Reviewers say it has above-average driving dynamics, interior space and interior tech for an affordable midsize SUV.
Reviewers rave about the 2012 Ford Flex’s high-tech interior, adult-sized third row and optional EcoBoost engine. Most also give its boxy exterior styling a big thumbs up, though they recognize that it won’t appeal to everyone. “The 2012 Ford Flex has the space, the versatility, the features and the driving dynamics to make it a top choice among large family crossovers,” writes Edmunds. “However, the very thing that makes it extra appealing to some (styling) may drive others away.”
The 2012 Ford Flex comes with an impressive list of standard features and a high-quality interior. But reviewers say that in order to get the best stuff Ford has to offer, you’ll have to check off a lot of option boxes. Some of their favorite items are only available as extra-cost add-ons, even on the highest trim level. For instance, reviewers love the Flex’s Vista Roof four-panel moon roof, turbocharged EcoBoost engine, Active Park Assist and refrigerated second-row console, but opting for all these features will add more than $9,000 onto the price of the already-expensive Titanium trim.

Ford, Toyota will partner on RWD hybrid system for trucks and SUVs. Is the Prius V not big enough for you? Then you’ll probably be interested to learn that Ford and Toyota announced a partnership today to develop a new hybrid system for SUVs and light trucks. The “equal partners” deal should result in a gasoline-electric hybrid powertrain that will be ready “later this decade” – in other words, in time for the higher CAFE standards that the U.S. government just announced.
The exact models that will use the new powertrain are, unsurprisingly, not being revealed. Instead, all we know is that Toyota and Ford will develop a rear-wheel-drive hybrid system that will improve the efficiency of trucks and SUVs while still allowing them to be driven in the way customers expect them to. The powertrain’s architecture will most likely not be the same as what is used in the dominant Hybrid Synergy Drive that Toyota has refined over the past 14 years in the Prius.
The reason no one knows for sure? All that Ford and Toyota have as this moment is a Memorandum of Understanding. The next step will be a feasibility study to figure out what the exact implementation path will be, with the general outline being that the companies will work together on a powerplant that will be used independently in models that are specific to each company (i.e., this is not about sharing a platform or models, just a RWD hybrid powerplant). The two automakers will also work together on in-vehicle telematics.
Today’s announcement could further confuse some people’s understanding of the history of hybrid technology, since it has long been an urban legend that Ford licensed its earlier hybrid tech from Toyota. This did not happen, as we explained back in 2009.

It all comes down to what you’re into. Some go for rockstar style. Others clamor for the luxurious side of life. Almost everyone wants increased protection. The reasons vary as much as the models. But that’s what makes it interesting! CARiD.com presents an enormous line of Toyota Grills that spark your imagination. All of the latest releases designed and cut just for your model are on display right here 24/7. We know that the front exterior is your calling card. These decisions are better left to the driver when it’s time to pick out the grille of their dreams. But that’s what makes it so much fun! Featuring top manufacturers like T-Rex, E&G Classics®, and Lund, we know we’re getting you the most authentically crafted pieces possible. But that’s what we’re here for. When it’s time for you to detonate the explosive style that defines your ride, we are the people to trust to help get you what you need. No matter what.

Taurus SHO fills need for speed. Enthusiasts shopping for a full-size sedan can fulfill their need for speed with the 2011 Ford Taurus SHO. The Taurus SHO was reintroduced for the 2010 model year after a 10-year hiatus. Compared to other full-size sedans, the Taurus SHO makes the everyday commute much more exhilarating and pleasurable. At the heart of this new Taurus SHO is a twin-turbocharged EcoBoost 3.5-liter V-6 engine that delivers the performance of a healthy V-8 with the fuel economy of a V-6. Ford.com At the heart of this new Taurus SHO is a twin-turbocharged EcoBoost 3.5-liter V-6 engine that delivers the performance of a healthy V-8 with the fuel economy of a V-6. Employing two small turbochargers instead of one large one, turbo lag is virtually eliminated. The SHO’s V-6 pounds out 365 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque (across a wide rpm range). And it does all that with an estimated 17 city/25 highway fuel economy. That’s pretty impressive for a large all-wheel-drive sedan. The EcoBoost engine features direct fuel injection that sprays the fuel directly into the combustion chambers as opposed to the intake ports. This advanced technology aids in performance and fuel economy as well as helping to lower tailpipe emissions. While the EcoBoost engine is designed to provide the best performance on premium fuel, it can be operated on regular unleaded, too. Mated to the powerful V-6 is a six-speed SelectShift automatic transmission that operates automatically or manually via steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters. It’s a likable unit in either automatic or manual mode. Power is further distributed through a sophisticated (and standard) AWD system that operates automatically and unobtrusively. The system automatically delivers torque to the wheels with optimum traction. Acceleration is impressive under all conditions, including from a dead stop and at highway speeds. The AWD system and the standard AdvanceTrac electronic stability system do a nice job of keeping the Taurus SHO in check regardless of road conditions.

It looks like the next-gen car could add to the mix with a hybrid all-wheel drive system–and, according to these spy shots, possibly a wagon, shown testing alongside its five-door hatchback sibling.
Though the wagon is not fully decked out in RS gear, it does feature RS seats and a wide central exhaust outlet like the hatch it was spotted with.
A Focus RS Wagon? Well, it would be known as the Turnier in some parts. As the long-roof model in the Focus stable, we’re more familiar with the wagon name. Either way, we doubt we’ll see it in America. Why? Because Americans don’t like wagons, for whatever reason, and even more so because of the price: it should sit around the $40,000 mark, which is beyond the pale for most of us when it comes to a tarted-up Ford.
If the next RS does go all-wheel drive and hybrid, though, our green-eyed monster is likely to rage even more fiercely: a 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine plus an electric motor could still top 300 horsepower, deliver fuel economy in the mid- or upper-30 mpg range, and offer the same or similar performance to the current RS.
We’re still looking at about a two-year wait until we see the next Focus RS, in hatch, wagon, or any other body style, however. The cars spotted here are development mules for testing near and on the Nurburgring. At CARiD, we have nothing but the highest quality Ford accessories you need to make the new and exciting changes that you desire. OEM or custom Ford parts can always give a fuller look when seeking those new additions you’re after. Beware of imitators-we are truly the “One Stop” for all Ford accessories. We want to make it easy for you. After all, isn’t that what’s important? At CARiD.com, we wouldn’t have it any other way.

The Fiesta’s glorious comeback to the U.S. market started with sixth generation of Ford Fiesta which was the International model, also marketed to European markets and Australia. The new Kinetic Design of the Ford Fiesta stands out for dynamic style, enhanced with high technology and safety standards. The new Ford Fiesta was presented as 5-door hatchback and 4-door sedan with the following innovations: 4-wheel anti-lock braking system, power folding mirrors, 4-speed automatic transmission, TCS traction control, electric power steering, seven passenger airbags, trip computer, Bluetooth with voice control and Electronic Stability Program. The new Ford Fiesta demonstrates the next generation of automotive efficiency and also represents a balance of economy and comfort, function and form that makes Ford Fiesta a world popular vehicle.

In 2008 Ford Fiesta became “Scottish Car of the Year”. The Ford Fiesta was awarded as the Car of the Year and Best Supermini by Auto Express magazine in August 2009. Ford Fiesta has become the first mini car to achieve Top Safety Pick according to the results of crash testing conducted by U.S. IIHS. The 2011 Fiesta fought Nissan Leaf (2 hybrid electric vehicles) and Chevrolet Volt (2 plug-in electric vehicles) in the Green Car of the Year contest, held by the Green Car Journal in November 2010.

Ford is known throughout the industry for building all-American machines that can take a beating and still come out of it looking pretty. Those are usually changed after a certain time or mileage but the periods may vary depending on the conditions and surrounding the car was used at. For example air filter is usually changed after 15000 miles or once a year if the vehicle was not in the run for long. But at highly contaminated areas the filter should be changed more frequently. The same occurs fuel and oil filters. The present day market offers thousands of that performance parts which may change the spoiled factory ones.
